We thought that with two wetbacks already connected to our cylinder the installation would be complicated - but it wasn't. Scanpower Ltd plumbers made a very neat job of all pipe work.
Even with the fire going during the winter months the solar panel still heated well on brighter days resulting in the element seldom operating. The combination of wetback and solar panel works well as we are both away from the house during the day, the fire is at a low setting and the solar panel is at its best.
Now with the clearer weather and no fire the solar panel is supplying 74 - 80% of our hot water energy. On days with no solar gain and no fire the controller is saving energy as it only allows the element to heat water as it is used - brilliant (14% saving alone).

What better way to heat our water than with the sun. The solar unit is working well providing us with an abundance of hot water and reducing our energy consumption.
The system controller is easy to use to check the temperature in the roof unit and in the hot water cylinder and it even controls the heating element so we have hot water on cloudy days.
